Surprisingly I actually spoke to Electronic Arts only yesterday afternoon about this very topic and as yet they have not released any details or screens about the game, but they are coming soon-ish. Never fear this is one of my most anticipated games this year so as soon as I get the info it will be on the site... BTW on a POLL on EA's Australian site Cricket 2004 is the title most people can't wait for, even beating Soul Calibur II and other sporting titles.

I am really looking forward to this game as well. Past cricket games have been steaming piles of fecal matter, but hopefully EA will set it right with this release!

I believe that Cricket 2002 was far too easy. I only hope that Cricket 2004 will live up to the standard that has been layed out front.

i thought the 2002 version was really great for bowling but batting was far too easy! The Graphics wernt as good as i expected from a ea game. And i thought they used the 3rd umpier way too much when it was odviously safe!

I think that they should make it so u can be the umpire and u should make all of the decisions ..and also u should get the chance to be the wicket keeper and control him .....and pick a player for an entire game and control that player for the entire game...anyone agree..

Well being the wicket keeper could get pretty boring I think. Also being the umpire could be pretty boring aswell, but I spose some people might like it. Picking one player for the whole game would be a good idea, then you could build up lots of stats and know that you and only you have done them. If they had a perspective view of the batter when your batting that isnt impossible to see and manouver than that would be a good extra to have for the advanced player, since yous are all saying it is too easy to bat.
Also maybe they could have an idea where you could change the way you bat. ie use the right analog stick to swing the bat therefore creating a wider and more craetive range of hits. A running option would be desired, like tapping the X and O buttons to run faster, thus creating quicker singles and more fun in quick matches(more run outs, and more risks).

Yeah, Cricket 2004 will be an awesome game and I can't wait until it comes out in Australia. It is weird how Cricket 2002 and Cricket 1999 looked identical to each other! From Matthew |

I guess if there isn't a 'create player' function, you could probably edit an existing player (eg. change its name etc)

Maybe because they are still working on the game, they don't want to leak any information that may be untrue when it is finally released. I actually think that Acclaim gave info too early about AFL Live 2004 because some features weren't included at the release eg Tribunal etc. From Matthew

OK, I have not been slack on this one.. This is the sports game I'm most looking forward to this year. As of today EA still don't have any info on the title. It has, however, been pushed back until around December 10th this year. I have been sent some screens, but they are more like mock ups so I won't even put them up. I'm still pushing for info but as you can see it's not even on EA's own web site.

It is a possibility that domestic teams will be included. If in FIFA Soccer games, there are club teams, why can't there be also domesitic teams rather than 'just' country teams Cricket 2004. I agree totally GeorgeBradleyHogg1.

Does anyone think that there will be an 'edit player name' function in the game as they did in Cricket 2002? But they shuod allow us to change heads/bodies/shirts etc like FIFA.

It is a pity developers rarely do what players want. I mean in Cricket 2002 while bowling (2-player games especially), you just put the 2-3 fielders on the legside behind square and 1 fielder at mid-on and mid-off. All you basically then do is bowl yorkers, forcing the other player to sweep and one of the fielders on the legside will stop it. When double stepping and miss timing, the player will be caught at mid-on or mid-off. Me and other players always play like this and can get very frustrating and after a while can get annoying. There is no strategy involved, you just bowl yorkers and the can't hit you for six / four easily. The runs is totally stopped.
What I am trying to say is that they must bring in the option in Cricket 2004 of where you can create the rules of how many yorkers / bouncers etc. can be bowled per over. E.g. two yorkers per over, when bowling the third for the over, it must be signalled as no-ball. I know it is not completely in the rules of cricket, but it would definetly make 2-player games against friends more fun with more variety in bowling.
Creating your own team from scratch and putting them against other nations would also have been fun. |

Well I think they should have a more random way of bowling, making it not so easy to bowl yorkers every ball, or make it harder to master the yorker. Also the circle that appears when you bowl should only appear as the ball has almost hit the ground, making it more realistic and harder to hit. This would make for some quicker thinking.

Yes that would be very nice. Then it would become harder to master and a more realistic way of playing. Batting and bowling, scoring runs and getting wickets would be more balanced, making the game more fun for a longer time.
Also, are the domestic teams from countries mentioned earlier also included?

Does anybody know if statistics (average of batsmen / bowlers etc.) will be included in Cricket 2004?
That would make a very nice addition.

What I meant is that it would be accumulated for the whole game, not just for a single tournament like in Cricket 2002.
